These shots are from a recent shoot of an actor named Darien Johnson. The shoot was for a profile article in Minnesota Magazine. We shot some portraits and some images of him doing his thing. Pretty amazing to see someone slide so easily into a Shakespearian monologue. There’s a good chance that you will be hearing this young talent’s name again!

I shot a portrait of Minnesota poet Robert Bly recently. It was just before a reading he and Coleman Barks, gave during a creative/academic conference at the U of M celebrating Bly’s career. I enjoyed getting the opportunity to photograph him, and to hear both poets read their work. While perhaps best known for translating Persian poet, Rumi, Mr. Barks’ own poetry was really beautiful. His book “Winter Sky, New and Selected poems, 1968-2008” is on my list of books to pick up.
