Cool Photos Cool Music

January 06, 2011

Paring music with your still images or video can be tricky. You would hate to have something distract from the viewing experience, and not everyone will like your musical tastes. Everyone has probably entered a website and had some horrible music start blaring immediately. In the age of limited attention spans, and limited time, inevitably some folks will just click on to the next website instead of finding the mute button. I am a huge music fan, however, so I love it when I run across examples of music that work really well with the visuals. Here is collaboration between photographer Sara Jorde and musician Evan Murnane (of “We Valedictorians” and “Total Babe”). Cool photography, cool original music, really cool together.

Messin’ with the iPhone Camera

January 23, 2009

F.Y.I. you can have some fun with distorting images taken with an iPhone. The subject needs to be well lit if you want the image (or parts of the image) to remain sharp instead of going blurry. If you have some decent light, all you have to do is wiggle the camera while shooting or shoot something that is moving pretty quickly. Different types of camera movement will distort the image in different ways. Here are a few examples. And here is a Flickr group of some more.
